PLS  Social Center Pillerseetal
Mainimage

The project offers a lively promenade as a linear centre. This allows all residents to participate in the common, shared social life.
The balconies and lounges are directly visually linked to the common spaces, so that even non-mobile residents may participate directly in a lodge atmosphere, overlooking the activity of the promenade. The resident can observe the coming and going, watching with amusement, able to appreciate the promenade as a voyeur. The North-South orientation provides an ideal exposure to the activity of the day, while the morning and evening sun can be enjoyed from the bed.

More than 380m ² solar panels are structurally integrated into the roof surface, and can therefore address the entire heat demand of the Social Centre. The landscape flows through the project, and opens in a longitudinal direction towards the nursery, integrating the center and promenade into a single gesture. The public areas act as artificial landscapes between the two residential wings. The southern light is allowed to penetrate the foyer, which separates the northern, calm exterior and chapel from the energetic events taking place on the south side. A generous cut through the landscape allows the ramp to act as a north-south crossing at the previous ground level, improving overall access.
